"We are extremely honored to be recognized by such a prestigious organization and appreciate all of the work ASCAP does to support its member artists" said Jason Karaban, lead singer of GRAND.

The ASCAP audio portrait is a unique format created by BEHINDtheBEAT.com, which uses state of the art technology and production techniques to craft profiles of artists in the context of their newly released material. Listeners are able to hear the artist discuss the underlying foundation behind the songs and music.

GRAND was also selected to appear in a BMG showcase event on August 25, 2001 at Six Flags-Great Adventure in New Jersey. BEHINDtheBEAT.com hails, "GRAND's self-titled debut...is an impressive collection of rock and power-pop tunes performed with flair and sung by Jason Karaban, an evocative singer-songwriter whose voice looms large over the band's diverse grooves and textures."

GRAND will tour continuously the remainder of 2001 focusing on the Northeast Corridor.

WORKHOUSE PUBLICITY announces Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana in New York for the Ultimate Hollywood Party

Author by Anonymous

NEW YORK- Come and mingle with the gods and goddesses of today’s Tinseltown in the pages of Hollywood: a book conceived by Dolce & Gabbana as an homage to the “Hollywood from which we always draw the imagery that informs our designs”. With Hollywood, the design team of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana present their own production with a truly all-star cast. Designed by Visionaire and published this November by Assouline, Hollywood features over a hundred astonishing portraits of the most compelling cinematic celebrities of our time (Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Madonna, Jennifers Lopez and Aniston, Johnny Depp, Julianne Moore, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Nicolas Cage, Salma Hayek, Meg Ryan, Kate Winslet, Monica Bellucci to name a few). Capturing the glamour, power, seduction, romance, and red carpet moments of Hollywood’s brightest stars through the lenses of the world’s most exciting photographers including: Mario Testino, Patrick Demarchelier, Ellen Von Unwerth, Michel Comte, Gilles Bensimon and Sante D’Orazio. Hollywood focuses on the unforgettable leading men and women who filter fashion through their own mesmerizing personas. It is to these talented artists, that Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana pay tribute with Hollywood. Once upon a time, the great movie stars lived only in the imaginations of two small Italian boys—one the son of a tailor; the other the son of a factory worker. Inspired by the incredible fantasies they saw on the big screen, each boy dreamed larger than life. Now, theirs is a marquee name in its own right. Internationally regarded as masters of glamour and sensuality themselves, Dolce & Gabbana set the trends with their unique, ever-evolving, take on fashion An extraordinary retrospective of their impressive careers, Hollywood takes you behind-the-scenes and offers a sneak peak into the hearts and souls of Dolce & Gabbana. See how celluloid history is made from the inside out as Hollywood strips away the veil and reveals in exclusive interviews how stylists, make-up artists, hairdressers and photographers fuse fashion and film to form looks that last longer than a lifetime. This lavish book delves deep into the heart of Hollywood as it chronicles the remarkable relationship between the stars and their styles. Hollywood For Dolce & Gabbana, it’s an affair to remember indeed. Actors become characters when they step onto the set. Each actress embodies the clothes the way she interprets a role. A garment is a line in the script; but the way each piece is put together makes the whole performance.

“Hollywood is a constant for us because without it we would lack a language that is instant and universal.” – Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana

Dolce & Gabbana’s internationally celebrated collections have often actualized the fantasy of Hollywood; translating the dream factory into a reality all their own. Hollywood is a spirited and sincere “thank you” from Dolce & Gabbana to the town that has granted them, and audiences worldwide, sheer joy, wonder and excitement. This book allows everyone to bask in Hollywood glow; to be a part of the glitter; to have a klieg light shine brightly on their idols in an exhilarating explosion of what movie magic means to us all. Here’s looking at you, Hollywood, from Dolce & Gabbana. Proceeds from Hollywood will go to charity: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Children’s Action Network.

Dolce & Gabbana is a leading luxury brand at the forefront of fashion and lifestyle. Launched in Milan in 1982 by designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Dolce & Gabbana quickly grew from a small but critically praised knitwear studio to an international fashion house with two distinct fashion brands for men and women—Dolce & Gabbana, the premiere ready-to-wear line and D&G, a youth-oriented diffusion line. Movie Writes? - Authors focus in on the big screen

Author by Anonymous

March 1, 2004--Harry Potter, one of the greatest literary success stories ever was also one of the biggest grossing movies ever. Are authors writing their books with the movie rights in mind?

“I think most modern authors are marketing orientated, “ says Stephen Bell author of the new release The Magic Islands. “This means they must think and plan clearly for the book, the movie and the merchandising. When I set out the plots in my books I’m always thinking of how the movie industry will be able to make it on the screen.”

However, more pieces than just the plot are tuned to create blockbuster script conversions. Many authors are also constructing strong screen characters in the books and setting the stories in movie friendly locations.

“One of my main thoughts in writing the characters is how they will translate to celluloid,” Stephen adds. “I go for very image orientated mains in my books. In the Magic Islands I chose a younger lead character as that really is the vogue at the moment and let’s be honest, I’m writing something to sell it. I think in the film Marcus should be a very strong character that will resonate with the fans.”

It can be challenged that this mode of writing could destroy the literature by becoming too heavily slanted towards the big screen.

“I think in everything there’s a good balance,” Stephen says. “There are great pieces of literature which are without doubt written with no intent to convert. However, there are as many now that are constructed to bring the two media together and create a more holistic experience for the fans. I can’t help feel that the world of Harry Potter was greatly enhanced by the movie and like wise The Magic Islands would be as well. I think that both parts of the overall experience are great for the fans.”

Nevertheless, it’s not just modern literature that is suitable for the big screen transition. The recent smash success of The Lord Of The Rings trilogy has paid testament that great books do make great films (whether the author intended or not). This masterpiece was converted into a brilliant screenplay and brought to life by the talents of Peter Jackson.

“I thing the shift that has occurred recently,” Stephen says, “is that there’s more premeditation in the plot, characters and dialogue so that they can more easily translated by the script writers. Where every dollar counts in a movie production, anything that speeds up the pre-production process can be a factor in deciding if a book becomes a movie. In The Magic Islands I used a lot of screen style dialogue to help with that process.”

The final ‘must’ in a modern book is that it can become a series, just like the Harry Potter films. It allows the movie studios to create a possible long-term revenue stream. This is crucial to maximise the return on initial investments and capitalise on longer-term merchandising.

“An absolute pre-requisite of my work was to map out the entire trilogy plus a major prequel. The Magic Islands looked towards work like Star Wars to see how to build a successful chain of stories,” Stephen admits. “Many big blockbusters are now filming the sequels at the same time, this was the case with Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions. It all helps the studios to plan production. My follow on books of The Book Of Secrets, The Dark Empress and The Army Of Wizards are ready to roll. This can only help the studios long term plan.”

So, does literature suffer or does it just transition into a modern digital, surround sound era? Does it just make the whole experience easier and richer for the fans? – The critics will decide. But for certain, books like The Magic Islands will spawn chains of action filled movies that will be enjoyed by their eager fans.

JavaMusic.com introduces its latest services to the Independent Music Industry. CD MANUFACTURING at $0.99 apiece and DISTRIBUTION opportunities in Asia.

CD MANUFACTURING SERVICE

JavaMusic is dedicated to the continual development and promotion of the Independent Music Industry and as such, is proud to announce its newest service, CD Manufacturing at EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE prices for small runs.

For a mere $999, JavaMusic’s Standard CD package includes 1000 CDs with 4/1 4 panel inserts, 4/1-tray cards, 2-color print on the CD, clear trays and assembled and polywrapped jewel cases. This puts the price per piece at $0.99.

When the order increases to 2000 units, the price per piece drops to $0.95. Orders over 2000 units are handled on a case-by-case basis.

DISTRIBUTION IN ASIA

JavaMusic understands that one of the challenges faced by independent labels is distribution. In the past, tapping an unsaturated music market like Asia has been out of reach for the independent labels. Independent labels just could not justify the capital outlay or did not have the network of knowledgeable connections to handle sales and distribution outside of their geographic region.

With the advancement in technology, infrastructure and disposable income, Asians are now savvier and more demanding about the kinds of music they listen to. Unlike the United States, the Asian music market is not yet saturated and there is a growing hunger to discover music “off the beaten track.” Now is the opportunity to capture a market hungry for fresh new music.

JavaMusic has a distribution center in Malaysia, where all CDs for distribution are initially housed. Depending on demand per country, JavaMusic then moves the CDs to the specific country, effectively reaching the target audience while minimizing inventory costs for the label. Through JavaMusic, Indie Labels now have the tools to reach countries such as Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, China, and Japan.

CREATING DEMAND FOR NEW MUSIC

JavaMusic supports the distribution of new music by helping to create a demand via its network of Asian publications. These publications are nationwide print and electronic entities that run reviews of artists and albums on a regular basis per contract with JavaMusic.

Author by Anonymous

Every object, every form, every sculpture born from his skill and imagination has a distinct mark and style that is his alone, recognizable and inimitable

The opening of Puccio Gallery does not, however, mark the beginning of his career. His work has been recognized by many over the years. One-of-a-kind Puccio pieces have recently been created for Oprah Winfrey and Governor George Pataki.
“We first started out with this wild idea, who knew that it would turn out to be such a magnificent creation,” said Winfrey of her Puccio creation. “It is simply one of the finest pieces of craftsmanship I’ve ever seen.”

Also an inventor, Puccio patented a system in the United States to structurally fortify stone so he would be able to create designs and forms never before possible in marble and onyx. A nine-foot, scratch resistant onyx extension table on display at the gallery is an example of the type of work Puccio’s patented system makes possible.

After a lifetime of work, creativity and imagination his dream of owning his own gallery has become a reality. “When my niece told me about this location, an old Chinese restaurant, I immediately had a vision of what we could transform the space into.” Following eight months of renovation “we can now enjoy the neighbor’s amazement as they peek in the windows,” says Ms. Lucia Giudice, Mr. Puccio’s niece as well as the Gallery Director.
“To see my uncle’s work brings a look of wonderment and amazement to peoples’ faces. I am thrilled to be a part of his project.”
