ASCAP Honors Independent Artist GRAND

August 15, 2001, New York, NY -- ASCAP, the world renowned performing rights organization, today announced the selection of Pennsylvania based group GRAND as the "audio portrait of the week," at ASCAP.com. Over the course of the last two years only 75 artists worldwide have been featured by ASCAP in this unique format, which focuses on promising and rising ASCAP artists. Last week's featured audio portrait at ASCAP.com was Old 97s.

To access the audio portrait of GRAND, listeners should go to: http://www.ascap.com and select the "audio portraits" option from the main menu.

"We are extremely honored to be recognized by such a prestigious organization and appreciate all of the work ASCAP does to support its member artists" said Jason Karaban, lead singer of GRAND.

The ASCAP audio portrait is a unique format created by BEHINDtheBEAT.com, which uses state of the art technology and production techniques to craft profiles of artists in the context of their newly released material. Listeners are able to hear the artist discuss the underlying foundation behind the songs and music.

GRAND was also selected to appear in a BMG showcase event on August 25, 2001 at Six Flags-Great Adventure in New Jersey. The event called "Sam Goody's Presents," features all major label acts including: Blu Cantrell, Trickside and Smartbomb. GRAND will be the only independent artist in the BMG lineup.

This recognition of GRAND comes on the heels of their debut release produced by John Hampton (Gin Blossoms - New Miserable Experience) and recorded at Ardent Studios (3 Doors Down, REM) . The 13 track self-titled release on New York based Ascend Records is beginning to attract attention from radio, print and online media. BEHINDtheBEAT.com hails, "GRAND's self-titled debut...is an impressive collection of rock and power-pop tunes performed with flair and sung by Jason Karaban, an evocative singer-songwriter whose voice looms large over the band's diverse grooves and textures."

GRAND will tour continuously the remainder of 2001 focusing on the Northeast Corridor.
