Mask Music - Where Classic Music Lives - New Vintage Music Sales and Community site

Author by Anonymous

Don and Mary Knowlton announce their new Mask Music web site, http://www.maskmusic.com. Mask Music is a collection of primarily classic music such as vintage vinyl albums and 45s, 78s and reel-to-reel tapes, as well as other more recent offerings. The music is available for purchase.

Mask Music also has sound bytes of radio airchecks and OTR (old time radio) available for free download, as well as a Message Forum for discussion of various sound, radio, music, and other more general topics.

Some of the formats offered by Mask Music are in limited production, or are gone altogether and are cherished by collectors far and near; such as the vinyl albums and 45s, as well as some old 78s and reel-to-reel tapes.

For those who enjoy old radio airchecks and other old time radio (OTR) sound bytes, Don has been recording them for years, and Mask Music has begun listing these recordings on the site. These recordings are offered as a free download. Check back often, as more will be added.

Join the Mask Music Message Forum to discuss radio airchecks and OTR, or any music, sound or radio topic with Don and the rest of the group. If you would like to be notified when Mask Music's music selections are updated, just register on the Message Forum. Visit http://www.maskmusic.com for details.

Don Knowlton, when asked about Mask Music, stated, "I've always loved music. From the first record I paid for with my own money ("Kookie, Kookie - Lend Me Your Comb" by Edd Brynes), I was hooked. My collection grew and diversified through the years as I sought out all that was different as well as the current fads. In high school (around 1968), I discovered FM and so-called 'Underground Radio.' I listened to WNEW-FM, WABC-FM (later became WPLJ) and other commercial stations as well as great college/community stations: WPKN, WBAI and my favorite in those days - WYBC, the college radio station for Yale University. They had some great shows and great DJs for a college station. I first heard Firesign Theatre, Blind Faith, Frank Zappa and many others on a late night show called 'Diversions.' I discovered Jazz on a show called 'Afro-Blue.' In the past few years my collection has grown so large, I must share it with others - in order to make room for new items! About a year ago we started MASK Music, manning a booth at the Atlanta Record Show held semi-monthly. We always try and bring a wide selection to the show."

We asked Don how they chose the name for MASK Music. He said, "At almost every record show someone asks us where we got our name, it's nothing too mysterious, it's Mary's (the better half of Mask Music) initials."
